Biography


Bishop James E. Jordan, Jr. has faithfully served as Pastor of Refreshing Spring Church of God in Christ since September 1995, following in the footsteps of our beloved founder, Bishop Archie D. Headen. A man of vision, wisdom, and unwavering faith, Bishop Jordan continues to lead the ministry with spiritual strength and pastoral compassion.

Elevated to the sacred office of Auxiliary Bishop in the Church of God in Christ in 2017, Bishop Jordan has served in various leadership roles across multiple jurisdictions. He is the current Superintendent of the Times of Refreshing District in the Maryland Eastern Shore Jurisdiction under the leadership of Jurisdictional Bishop Paul R. Harmon and Supervisor Mother Lee E. VanZandt. He also serves on the Senior Advisory Board to Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard. His past service includes leadership as Superintendent of the Gilbert Earl Patterson Memorial District (Greater Maryland First Jurisdiction) and the A.D. Headen District (Washington D.C. Jurisdiction), as well as Pastor of Holy Grace COGIC in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Bishop Jordan is supported in ministry by his devoted wife, Mother Wilhelmenia Irene Joy Jordan—lovingly known as the “Queen of the Spring.” Together, they share a powerful testimony of love, prayer, and partnership, celebrating over 50 years of marriage and ministry. Their union stands as a living example of godly commitment and grace, continuing to bless the Refreshing Spring family and beyond.
