James E. Jordan, Jr. has served as
Pastor of the Refreshing Spring Church of God in Christ in
Riverdale, Maryland since September 1995. The mission of his
ministry is to establish a desire in the hearts of men for the
Word of God as the foundation for personal salvation and
discipleship. Pastor Jordan is committed to equipping the saints
for the work of the ministry focused on the Whole Man-spirit,
soul and body. This vision is fulfilled through the development of our satellite
ministries serving congregations in Clinton, Silver Spring, New Carrollton
and College Park, Maryland. The church consists of a local food bank,
partnered with government and independent agencies, as well as clothing,
prison and homeless ministries - all functioning to extend the kingdom of
God by working to make people free from all than binds them. Refreshing
Spring also serves the community through the Refreshing Spring Bible
Institute, the Little Folks Childcare Development Center, a summer youth
camp and annual health and career fairs. Refreshing Spring owns and
operated the Refreshing Spring Office Building, which houses many
ministries of the church in addition to local businesses.
Pastor Jordan serves as the Chairman of the Board of the S.E.E.D
Community Development Corporation, and oversees the development of the
Spring of Life Wellness Center and the Refreshing Spring Family Life
Center. He serves on the executive board of the Collective Banking Group
of Prince George's County and the Riverdale Ministerial Alliance. In
addition, Refreshing Spring recently initiated a ministerial certification
program. |

As an extension of his ministry, Pastor Jordan has traveled around the
world. In 1999, he sponsored a pilgrimage to Israel, taking along 65
church members. Pastor Jordan toured the entire country, served communion
in the Garden of Gethsemane, baptized 40 people in the River of Jordan,
and officiated as 20 couples renewed their wedding vows in Cana.
During a 2001 tour to Greece, Pastor Jordan led 21 people on a trek
following the missionary journeys of Paul through Mars Hill, Thessalonica, Phillipi, Delphi, Corinth and Medatora, followed by a cruise to Turkey and
Ephesus.
Pastor Jordan's 2002 pilgrimage tour to Europe included Paris, France
(during which Pastor Jordan and 41 church members visited the Cathedral of
Notre Dame), Zurich, Switzerland, (traveling by rail to an elevation of
13,000 feet to Jungfraujoch), and Rome, Italy which included a visit to
the Vatican where Pastor Jordan and his members enjoyed a prearranged VIP
seating audience and blessing with Pope John Paul.
Pastor Jordan lives by Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all
thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways
acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."
Pastor Jordan is the father of two sons and one granddaughter and
resides in Maryland with his wife of over 37 years Mother Irene Jordan. |
